Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday visited the Industrial park site near seashore in Korangi and was given briefing on the status of the land, encroachment, allotment on political considerations, plan to set up industrial park and likely size of each plot that would be industry specific.
The chief minister took notice of the report that some of the people allotted plots in the vicinity of the industrial park's land for industrial purposes have failed to comply with the terms and allotment conditions.
He directed the officials to cancel their allotments and report compliance forthwith. He said appropriate legislation to curb this practice would be done.
Chief Minister's Investment Cell Chairman Muslim Abbasi during the presentation on the proposed park informed the chief minister that the local and foreign investors were being asked to submit proposals for investment in the proposed park.
He said that prospect for investing in establishing treatment plants; desalination plants and similar units existed at the park site.
The proposed industrial park project is designed to attract foreign investment preferably in the engineering sector. Investors are assured availability of infrastructure, including uninterrupted power supply and adequate quantity of water, strictly in accordance with the needs of the unit.
The chief minister during his visit to this partly marshy site of the park, likely to be spread over 680 acres of coastal land, said that the existing encroachments should also be removed and proper demarcation of the entire park and plots within the park should be completed on priority basis.
He said that in case more land was needed he would permit allotment.
Earlier, the chief minister had taken an aerial view of the parkland and noted down encroachment that are still existing. Senior officials of the provincial and district government accompanied him.
